Title: A Comprehensive Diversity and Inclusion Plan
This presentation describes an Observatory diversity and inclusion plan that makes use of best and emerging practices to address areas of inequity for underrepresented communities along the lines of age, ethnicity, gender, culture, ability or disability, religion, race, sexuality, with a recognition of the effects of intersectional identities. As an example of policy-making to affirm identity, this presentation offers a model for developing, socializing, and implementing a respectful policy and plan that supports Transgender employees during gender transition in the workplace. The model addresses review and adoption of policies and benefits, senior management support, staff education, and identification and removal of barriers to name/gender marker changes.
