Title: The Astronomy Outreach for Students at Merapi Volcano Disaster Area
Merapi volcano is an active volcano. Since the last eruption of 2010, the people in area with radius of 7 km from the volcano must be moved out to the others places further from the volcano. However, the people keep going back to the danger area. Since, they can not leave their land and houses. The students from the area have to travel further away to go to school. The school in the danger area is abandoned. Fortunately, there is informal school called Sekolah Gunung Merapi. The students learn number of skills, such as english, writing, and the disaster knowledge. Universitas Ahmad Dahlan is the university located in the southern part of the area has a group of astronomy research. The lecturer and university students went to informal school to introduce the concept of astronomy using several teaching media. The students at school learnt how to observe the sun using telescope. They were also having fun launcing the rocket model. To get the spatial understanding about the universe, the students created the model of solar system at the informal school.
